Spring Equinox 2026: Illuminating the Darkness
The equinox occurs when the Sun crosses Earth’s equator. At these two junction points of the year, day and night are (relatively) equal in length. As nature embraces her balance, let’s reflect and orient towards our own center. To do so, we must be willing to embrace ourselves and our life in totality. We do this by shining the inner light of our consciousness onto our shadowy, unconscious realms.
What? The Spring or Vernal Equinox occurs in March in the global northern hemisphere. It marks the beginning of the Spring season. To honor this transition point, Meghan Maris will be offering a two-hour workshop which will include yoga postures, breathwork, yoga nidra, and discussion which will include questions for consistent reflection during the spring season.
How? Utilizing the techniques of thoughtful sequencing of postures, breath techniques, and yoga nidra, this practice will be an investigation of in-between states. We will flow between ordinary consciousness, the unconscious, and a state beyond both which connects us to our intuitive wisdom.
Why? Ritual is a conscious recognition of our intentions. The modern way of life often eclipses the rhythms of nature which are always influencing us, even if that influence is subtle and mysterious. The Spring Equinox practice is an opportunity to join a community to usher in the spring season and connect to one’s inner nature. We are acknowledging the transition of the season, the subtle and overt influences that transitions have on us, and connecting to the deep self within that helps us to remain steady in the midst of continual change.
Who? This practice is recommended for students who seek to integrate their practice into their everyday life. The practice will be appropriate for all levels of experience with yoga.
