Morning Yoga Immersion: Autumn Attunement
Morning Yoga Immersion is a series which is anchored around a theme explored throughout the week. September’s Morning Yoga Immersion will be a week of honoring the shift from summer to autumn as we recognize the Autumn Equinox (in the global north) on Tuesday, September 22. The intention of the week’s practice is to acknowledge the cyclical essence of nature as we transition from the expansive energy of summer to the re-gathering of our energy that the autumn season promotes. Intentional witnessing and aligning with seasonal shifts attunes us to the natural world and expands our understanding of how we are interconnected and exist in reciprocity with nature. Day by day as we enhance our awareness, we will get glimpses of our inherent power and potential through the cultivation of sensitivity and intuition that arises when we are present.
The various yoga traditions have long observed nature’s rhythms and correlated them to the rhythms of human beings. Furthermore, there has been an understanding that we are made of the same elements of and are embedded within nature. Thus, we too are seasonal and our bodies, minds, and rhythms are influenced by our natural and cultural environments. In contrast, rational thinking and empirical proof have become the predominant standards of acquiring information over the last several centuries. The trade off has resulted in diminishing our trust in our inner knowing of sensation, feeling, and intuition. Lacking sensitivity to ourselves and the natural world has created a mechanistic view of nature. When something is separate from myself then I can manipulate, extract, and commodify it. This narrow view is steeped in duality and will only be mended when we remember, embody, and exemplify to others that nature is interconnected, interdependent, and humanity is not above it, but a part of nature’s wisdom.
Who? This program is for anyone interested in gaining a deeper understanding of Yoga philosophy and integrating it into their lives. It is also a supportive format for yoga teachers wanting to deepen their understanding of yoga philosophy. This program does require commitment from the participants.
