Trainings and pathway programs are designed for

Career Teachers

Mindful movement is one of the most widely recommended tools in rehabilitation and lifelong wellness. Career teachers are leading forces in preventative medicine. Join a community of movement educators who make a real difference, one practice at a time.

Dedicated Students

At The Practice Space, students who enroll without the intention to teach are not just welcome, they’re essential. This program is built for those who want agency over their movement, who believe that deep knowledge of the body can lead to deep healing. When you understand how to move with clarity and purpose, you don’t just learn Pilates—you learn how to care for yourself from the inside out.

Both are required to create a true impact in the world.

The initial 200 hours are dedicated to personal practice. Before we can teach others, we must first deepen our own practice. This foundational phase helps you discover your inner voice and connect with the deeper, experiential wisdom of teaching.

New! 200-Hour Pilates Studio Pathway Starts September 10th!

Pilates Training FAQ’s

  • Both! This 200-hour pathway is designed for dedicated students and aspiring teachers. We believe the first step to becoming an excellent teacher is being a well-studied, embodied student.

The curriculum includes anatomy, the full mat and equipment repertoire, Pilates history, and guided self-practice. Whether you're on the path to teaching or deepening your personal practice, this program offers a strong and meaningful foundation.

  • What is the Fall 2025 schedule for this program?
The 200-Hour Studio Pathway meets three times per week during each module:

    • Wednesdays (Virtual, from home): 5:30–8:00pm

    • Fridays (In studio): 5:30–8:00pm

    • Saturdays (In studio): 1:30–6:30pm

The program is divided into three 3-week modules:

    • Module 1: September 10 – September 27

    • Module 2: October 8 – October 25

    • Module 3: November 5 – November 22

The final week of Module 3 concludes with a 3-night retreat at Breitenbush Hot Springs, an Oregon sanctuary space.
Retreat dates: Wednesday, November 19 – Saturday, November 22

This immersive structure allows for deep learning, consistent practice, and meaningful community connection.

  • 120 hours are completed through the scheduled in-person training sessions on Wednesdays (virtual), Fridays, and Saturdays, as well as during the final retreat at Breitenbush.

The remaining 80 hours are completed independently and include:

    • 25 hours of attending mat classes

    • 25 hours of attending reformer classes

    • 25 hours of self-practice on studio equipment

    • 5 private sessions with a training instructor

This structure ensures a well-rounded experience of learning, embodiment, and application.

  • Yes, but it's thoughtfully designed to support your learning. You'll receive a few reflective assignments to complete in a studio-provided journal, helping you develop your self-practice programming so your movement stays dynamic and evolving after graduation.

Some light reading will also be required before group meetings, including sections of the training manual and selected historical texts for discussion.

  • The full cost of the 200-hour program is $4,350, and it includes:

    • A full year of mat classes at The Practice Space

    • 25 equipment classes

    • 5 private sessions

    • A 3-night retreat at Breitenbush

    • All manuals and required texts

Unlike many programs that charge separately for practice hours, studio access, and materials, everything is included, no hidden fees. Plus, graduates receive a Studio Skills Pass, allowing for self-guided practice on our equipment, an offering unique to The Practice Space.

If you choose to continue and complete the full 500-hour Pilates Teacher Certification, your total investment is $7,500, which means you’ll have 300 more hours and $3,150 remaining in dues after the 200-hour program. This final phase also includes a guaranteed substitute teaching position at The Practice Space upon graduation.

Comparable programs typically cost $8,000–$10,000, often excluding the cost of classes, private sessions, or materials. We've designed our training to be accessible, transparent, and deeply rooted in community and quality education.

  • Absolutely! If your goal is to teach at a local gym, community center, or in a less formal setting, you can enroll in our 300-hour certification track after completing the initial 200-hour program, you would only have 100 hours to go!

This shorter pathway focuses on mat and reformer instruction and runs alongside the full 500-hour program, allowing you to build skills and gain confidence without committing to the full comprehensive certification.

  • Income as a Pilates teacher can vary widely depending on your location, schedule, and where you teach. Many part-time teachers working 8–10 sessions per week can earn around $20,000 USD per year, though this depends on attendance and rate structure.

Full-time positions do exist and may offer stable income and additional benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, and retirement savings; particularly in established studios, wellness centers, or educational institutions. As your experience grows, so does your earning potential through private sessions, workshops, and advanced roles.

In short: if you choose to teach after graduation, it’s very realistic to earn back your investment in your first year.

  • Is there a payment plan option?
Yes! We offer flexible payment plans for the 200-hour program.

Each plan includes the $750 deposit, and a $25 administrative fee is added to each monthly installment. Here’s how it breaks down:

    3-Month Plan

    • $750 deposit

    • 3 monthly payments of $1,200

    • $25 fee added to all 3 payments

    6-Month Plan

    • $750 deposit

    • 6 monthly payments of $600

    • $25 fee added to all 6 payments

    12-Month Plan

    • $750 deposit

    • 12 monthly payments of $300

    • $25 fee added to all 12 payments

  • Absolutely, if you are interested in doing the full 500 hour program, the same payment plan is implemented with a $25 administrative fee to each payment.

Self-Practice Is Possible!

Most studios are locked up outside of class hours. They would never let students in for a few leg circles after work, and they certainly don’t trust students to use the Cadillac without supervision!

We say: enough.
We believe this equipment is powerful, healing, and meant to be used.

Join our 200-Hour Pilates Studio Pathway and graduate with a STUDIO SKILLS PASS - your key to independent practice on professional equipment.

Meet the Educational Directors

Meghan Maris

Through over 20 years of devoted yoga practice and teaching, Meghan has dedicated her life’s work to guide others.

She uses the body, breath, mind, and yoga philosophy as gateways to explore the relationship between our inner workings and outer experience.

She advocates building the structure of the postures from the ground up, harnessing the breath as a conduit of electricity, and illuminating the interior with the light needed to examine the contents within – practices integrated into The Practice Space’s Curriculum.

She guides by staying true to the teachings and attempting to remain humble, authentic, and in the spirit of selfless service, offering support and encouragement to all the teachers she instructs.

Krista Lennartz

Krista, a Portlander born and raised, started teaching movement over 26 years ago.

After receiving her BA in dance education and psychology from Marymount Manhattan College in 2005, she got her certification as a Pilates instructor from the Kane School of Core Integration in New York City.

In 2012, she added yoga instructor (Yoga Bhoga RYT 200) to her skill set, a practice she incorporated into her life and in the studio. In 2015, she received her Master’s in Motor Learning and Control from the Teachers College Columbia University biobehavioral sciences department – the answers she unveiled from that research would change the way she looks at Pilates forever and become the lynchpin of The Practice Space’s curriculums today.
