Yin Yoga Bliss

Yin Yoga, Acupuncture, and Qigong

Tools like acupressure and qigong practices including movement, breathwork and self massage, all work to remove energy blockages and promote the smooth flow of chi. When integrated within a yin yoga practice, the result is a profound state of deep relaxation that can promote physical and emotional healing. Join Anne Witmer each month for a two-hour Yin Yoga class incorporating acupressure and qigong elements. Each month, the practice will focus on themes of the current season and nature’s corresponding element. This class will give you the tools to take charge of your own well-being, create more internal balance, enhanced wellness and greater feelings of ease.

Anne Marie Witmer

For more than 15 years, Anne Witmer has been teaching yoga and spiritual development to thousands of students through classes, workshops, online courses and retreats. Her first experience of yoga took place long before the advent of yoga pants and specialty mats and consisted of a teacher reading from a yoga how-to book at the Berkeley YWCA. Since those early days, Anne has had the fortune to explore many different styles and study with some of the world’s most renowned teachers.

When Hurricane Katrina left her homeless and jobless in New Orleans, Anne retreated to the Esalen Institute in California, where she completed her first Yoga Teacher Training Program and studied with the likes of Shiva Rea, Seane Corne, Sianna Sherman, Sarah Powers and many others. Upon leaving Esalen, she completed advanced training programs in Yin Yoga and Yoga Therapy. Over the years, she has taught a variety of styles including Vinyasa, Pre & Post-Natal, Hatha, Restorative and her all time favorite style, Yin.

When Anne began exploring Yin Yoga, she found it to be a beautiful and simple tool for creating balance and harmony in the body, mind and emotions. Based on the principles of Taoism and Chinese Medicine, Yin Yoga targets the fascia and other connective tissue where according to TCM, the body’s energy meridians reside. Yin Yoga stimulates the flow of chi in the meridians, enhances organ function, relieves energetic or emotional blockages and improves the way we think and feel.

Anne has taken her personal practice deeper by embracing Yin principles both on and off the mat. She is dedicated to elevating the importance of yin qualities such as softness, simplicity, interconnectedness and surrender in our fast-moving, competitive, yang world. From her perspective, the way of Yin is really the path of the Divine Feminine: learning to open, soften and allow, and to be with life just as it is, in this moment. Anne deeply believes that acknowledging our interconnection to each other and to the earth itself, is how we can bring about healing and restore peace and harmony to ourselves and our world.
