Morning Yoga Immersion (Series)

  • The Practice Space 4220 Southeast Belmont Street Portland, OR, 97215 United States (map)

Morning Yoga Immersion is a series which is anchored around a theme explored throughout the week. July's Morning Yoga Immersion will focus on the "Four Aims of Life." According to the Vedic era of yogic teachings, there are four pursuits in life which are meant to align us with our soul’s purpose and reveal our innate fullness. In Sanskrit, these pursuits are known as puruṣārtha or “for the purpose of the soul.” These pursuits consist of our higher purpose (dharma), prosperity (artha), enjoyment (kama), and spiritual liberation (mokṣa). Utilizing these teachings in our lives provides us with guardrails to maintain inner and outer balance, awareness, integrity and steadfast joy. Each morning of the immersion you will be provided prompts around the day's focus as an opportunity to reflect and integrate the teachings into your daily life.

The daily repetition of the pattern of the postures and breath work fosters presence by alleviating the cognitive work of the mind. The practice itself becomes a moving meditation, prayer, or offering. It acts as a healing balm for the often distracted, restless, and anxious outer mind. As the mind settles into a groove of steady concentration and returns to its natural reflective nature, a deeper understanding of oneself and the teachings is unveiled.

“I have participated in several of Meghan's morning immersions, and each time I have been struck by Meghan's skill at bringing classical yoga teachings into the context of this world we are living in here and now. These immersions have significantly deepened my practice of yoga both on and off the mat. If you are looking for a soothing, grounding practice that helps you explore who you really are, an immersion is for you!” — Dan.

“Meghan’s morning immersion classes feel like a mini-retreat. Just knowing I was going to be on my mat during that specific window of time, every day for that week, helped to shape the quality of each day, and my week as a whole. When Friday arrived, I was surprised at how much stronger I felt, physically—more than I would have thought possible, for a relatively short period of increased practice. The immersion classes remind me how powerful just a little bit more yoga practice can be.” — Becky
