Yoga Nidra Pop Up Class

Wednesday, October 28th
7 - 8:30pm at the WOODSTOCK Studio

Nidra is the Sanskrit word for sleep. Yoga nidra is translated as the “yoga of sleep,” however in practice, it is a state of consciousness or a way of being. It is a non-sleep of deep rest and invites the practitioner into the liminal boundaries of consciousness shifting from one state to another. Yoga nidra is characterized by effortlessness and letting go because there is nothing to do other than listen and rest. Each lineage will have its own particular style, however, it is broadly a practice of guided meditation and relaxation and includes a rotation of bodily awareness through body scans, breath awareness, and sensory visualization.

Wednesday’s Yoga Nidra Pop-Up will be aligned with the season we are in and its association as a liminal time where the boundary between the physical and “other” world thins. A time when many traditions and cultures around the planet honor the passing of their ancestors and therefore, a time when we can ask for more support and guidance. Saturday, October 31 is Samhain and marks the halfway point between the fall equinox and the winter solstice. As we enter into the darker half of the year, we are invited to go within. We will explore themes of transformation and the inherent renewal that arises through the courageous act of letting go. We will anchor into the present while planting seeds for our conscious becoming.

Participants who are interested are welcome to bring photos or symbols of their loved ones that have left this realm to both honor their legacy and ask for their support, guidance, and love.
