Beloved Souls Ritual: A Celebration Weaving a Web Between the Living and the Dead

On Thursday, November 2nd when “the veil between the living and dead is thinnest,” join Meghan Maris and Anne Witmer for a special evening of ritual and celebration for all those who have passed. Together we will build an altar to honor these souls and bring their spirits to life by sharing their stories. Through ritual, we will ask these loved ones for guidance and help in healing ourselves and our world. If you have been grieving, long to connect with someone who has passed, or are simply curious about the spirit world, join us for a very special evening celebrating the power of connection.

For the altar ceremony, students are asked to bring a photo of their deceased loved one or a small momento representing something they loved. A slow sun salutation practice to honor our primary life force will connect all practitioners in space. Followed by breathwork and meditation, storytelling in small group circles, and healing prayers to honor those beyond our visible world.

Our lives, and the lives of all who have gone before us, are woven together in intimate circles of belonging. Many traditions believe that the dead are never actually “departed,” but rather right here with us and eager to connect. Developing a relationship with the dead is like tending a garden, the more we interact with them, the stronger the relationships grow. Through these connections, we come to realize that life is beginning-less and love is endless.
