The 200-Hour Yoga Pathway: Immersive Study for Dedicated Practitioners and a Foundation for Teaching Certification
The 200-Hour Yoga Pathway: Immersive Study for Dedicated Practitioners and a Foundation for Teaching Certification is a transformative program designed to deepen participants' understanding and integration of yoga techniques and philosophy. Led by Meghan Maris, this immersive training will take place from January 10 to May 10, 2025, with 160 contact hours plus self practice requirements, focusing on postures (āsana), breathwork (prāṇāyāma), meditation (dhyāna), and the philosophical and historical roots of yoga. The training also introduces students to essential anatomy, physiology, and Sanskrit to foster a holistic yoga practice grounded in history. Meeting Fridays, Saturdays, and Wednesdays, the course combines in-person and online sessions, providing a comprehensive exploration of yoga lifestyle and practice.
This program, offers participants the opportunity to cultivate a grounded and dedicated personal yoga practice, essential for those intending to share yoga with others. Unlike many 200-hour programs, this course emphasizes the embodiment of yoga rather than focusing on teaching methodologies, creating a foundation for students to authentically connect with yoga philosophy and its modern applications. Students will gain the confidence to guide others in casual settings while preparing for future teaching development. Each participant will receive a course manual, and required texts will deepen their understanding, laying the groundwork for further advanced studies in the 100-hour Teaching Essential Program.

How is it effective?
This program is designed to achieve the goal of developing confident and knowledgeable yoga practitioners by providing actionable, hands-on learning opportunities. The 200-hour program will establish students in a grounded and dedicated yoga practice, deeply rooted in historical and philosophical contexts. This is a vital foundation for anyone aspiring to teach yoga. The initial 200-hour module will cover the standard subjects recommended by Yoga Alliance, including core yoga techniques, philosophy, and practices. To further enhance teaching skills, an additional 100-hour module will focus on teaching methodology, pedagogy, effectiveness, and professional essentials.
It is also effective because of the immersive nature of this program. Along with immersive learning with your unique cohort, student will also receive
Unlimited Mat Classes at The Practice Space in 2025
A 3-day retreat at Breitenbush
25% off additional services at The Practice Space in 2025
Why is it important?
It is common to find individuals wishing to seek deeper understanding and integration of yoga into their daily lives. The modern 200 hour yoga teacher training program is often where individuals are offered such an opportunity. However, many people who take yoga teacher training are not necessarily interested in teaching yoga in a studio setting. Additionally, many aspiring teachers who take a 200 hour training program feel ill-equipped to teach yoga to others because the reality is, 200 hours simply is not enough training.
Who if this for?
Our 200 hour Yoga Pathway program is designed for those seeking a deeper, authentic connection to yoga, both in their personal practice and their understanding of its rich history and philosophy.
To achieve this, the 200-hour module immerses students in the study and embodiment of yoga without the pressure of immediately learning teaching methodology. This module provides an opportunity for students to establish a consistent daily practice and live a yoga lifestyle throughout the training. Upon completion, graduates will be equipped to guide friends and family through yoga practices and share philosophical and historical insights in informal settings.
Many new teachers, when starting to teach in formal environments like studios, often experience “imposter syndrome.” Authentic teaching requires being firmly rooted in one's practice and teachings, grounded in both personal experience and applied study. Unfortunately, in the early 2000s through the pandemic, the modern studio culture often churned out under-prepared and under-qualified teachers, which negatively impacted both individuals and the greater yoga community.
In 2020, the global yoga community faced a reckoning, highlighting issues like cultural misappropriation and insensitivity. Now, there is an opportunity to approach learning and sharing yoga responsibly, with a deeper understanding of its evolution, including the impacts of European colonialism on how yoga is perceived today. Our program is committed to honoring this responsibility by cultivating well-rounded, mindful, and culturally aware teachers.
