Spring Clean: A Six Week Journey Through the Matrix of Your Being
What: Spring Clean is a six week program which will establish parameters to guide students to establish a daily practice to meet their individual needs. Spring is a supportive time of the year to “cleanse” the body and the concept of “cleansing” can be approached from many different perspectives.
How: This program will offer six weekly meetings on Tuesdays at 7:30 and one 60 minute private consultation with Meghan. In addition, participants will have unlimited mat classes at The Practice Space. The aim will be for each student to commit to a daily practice which aligns with their individual needs and circumstances. There will be weekly handouts and journal prompts for continued self-study and contemplation.
Why: We can establish ourselves in a state of optimal health and well-being and live a purposeful life, fused with abiding joy and awareness. However, this requires that we first identify the choices and ways in which we impede this possibility. Secondly, we need to establish practices which support us to establish positive health physically, energetically, psycho-emotionally, socially, and spiritually. This all requires effort and can result in meeting ourselves in hard places. A supportive community is a tremendous aid in this process.
Who: This program is for anyone interested in gaining a deeper understanding of Yoga philosophy and integrating it into their lives. This program does require commitment from the participants.

More details...
The format of this program is intended to offer guidance and be a supportive foundation for establishing a daily commitment to yoga practice and self reflection to establish a greater sense of health and well-being. Each week, we will gather as a community for yoga philosophy, guidance, discussion, support, and encouragement for the journey ahead. The weekly community meetings will be discussion based. Although we will discuss details of practice, these meetings will not be a”yoga class.”
Throughout the Spring Clean, you will have unlimited mat classes at The Practice Space to strengthen your commitment as you gain perspective from the studio’s skilled teachers. Weekly guidance will be provided in our weekly meetings to establish a daily meditation and āsana practice on days when you cannot make it into the studio. You will be given weekly handouts accompanied by journaling questions for further contemplation and which will guide our weekly discussions.
The purpose of this program is to experience the transformative effects of dedicated practice. To assist us within this process, we will gather as a community to share our experiences, learn from one another, and gain further insights into yoga philosophy. We will begin with where we are, but through the Spring Clean, we will be addressing all aspects of our being through dedicated practices and lifestyle refinements. Our efforts will provide us the opportunity to discover things about ourselves that are hidden beneath the surface of our conscious mind. When we can see ourselves with greater clarity, we can make lasting changes to support our growth and well-being.
Both the philosophical and practical focus of this program will be the pañca kośa-s or the five layers of our being. Although there is not one model of the “yogic body”, the Yoga traditions would agree that we are more than a physical body. Through the Spring Clean we will examine the kośa-s as a framework to consider how our practices and daily lifestyle choices impact our health and well-being from the outer layer of our physical body to our most subtle layer as awareness. Therefore, in this program we will gain an understanding of the factors which affect each of these layers through a broad spectrum from the food that we eat to the sense of having purpose and meaning in our lives. The pañca kośa framework correlates to the biopsycho-social-spiritual (BPSS) model found in integrative and healthcare systems today. From the perspective of both of these models, we are multidimensional beings that are influenced by a multitude of factors. This program will bring greater focus to navigate the many influences which shape our lives.
